Providing Genuine Care & Support

We carefully match children and carers to ensure the placement has the best chance of success. Where possible, we help family and community members take on the care of a child they know. We’re passionate about empowering people with skills, knowledge and practical support.

Foundations Care provides a range of services to support foster carers on their fostering journey, including training, workshops, caseworker meetings and ongoing encouragement.

FOUNDATIONS CARE values

Our values serve as a compass for our actions, decision and behaviours. Foundations Care exists to support individuals and the community, working to create a more caring and accessible environment for everyone involved in foster care.

RESPECT

Respect is due regard for the feelings, wishes or rights of others. We hold that people have intrinsic and inalienable worth that should be honoured and protected. We regard that it is not for us to judge, interfere or harm the will or interests of another person but to recognise, accept and facilitate those interests.

EXCELLENCE

Excellence is a constant journey, an aspiration rather than an achievement. For us, excellence is a state of mind where we seek to do more than just achieve our goals and outcomes but to do it in a way that rises above acceptable practice and to become the best that we can be.

INNOVATION

To Innovate is to change established or current practice and find new and better ways. We believe that challenging the 'what is' with the 'what can be' is core to transforming the lives of the people and communities we serve. It requires us to never be satisfied with our performance but to always ask ‘is there another way'?

PASSION

We are a mission-driven company, created out of an intense desire, enthusiastic to make a difference for people and communities. Our Passion motivates us, our passion drives us and our passion reminds us of why what we do matters.

INTEGRITY

Integrity means to be consistent with ones-self, or to be whole and undivided. It means to act in accordance with your beliefs values. We believe that being consistent with our ethical and positive moral standards is critical to who we are and that we are prepared to pay the price of retaining our integrity.

Our FOUNDATIONS CARE history

Foundations Care is a not-for-profit organisation that has been passionately dedicated to a single purpose for more than two decades; that the core needs of children, young people, to feel safe, accepted and valued within their family and community, will be realised. Foundations Care, an entity within the Community Services Group of companies, has a history of providing services to those in the community which spans over 37 years.

The companies of the group were formed in 2006 from a sole predecessor company, which had been in operation since 1982 in South East Queensland. During this time Foundations Care was known by Foundations Child and Family Support Inc., but has since had a minor name change to be the Foundations Care we know today. Today, our main service streams relate to the needs of children and young people in Out-of-Home Care and their carers.

Foundations Care works with children, young people and their families, providing Foster, Kinship and Residential Care, transition to independence, supervised family contact, youth mentorship, behaviour support and other family support services across Queensland and New South Wales.

We have a specific focus and expertise in supporting stability in children and young people’s lives and providing effective support to those children and young people whose needs challenge the typical service system response, including those children who present with behaviours of concern and those with strong connections to remote communities.

We take pride in our strong and effective working relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, their families, and communities. These relationships have allowed us to work successfully in remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia, where we have worked with Aboriginal people and communities to keep children and young people connected to their Country, kin and community.
